Momentum Consortium Wins $900 million Water Contract

Veolia Water Network Services, as part of the consortium "Momentum", has been awarded the contract to deliver the Sydney Water Watermains Program Alliance valued at approx. $900 million for the potential duration of 7 years.

The Sydney Water Watermains Program Alliance will comprise of Veolia Water Network Services, Bovis Lend Lease Australia, CLM Infrastructure and Sydney Water, and will be responsible for a significant proportion of Sydney Water's planned capital works.

A key component of the Sydney Water Watermains Works Program Alliance is to replace pipes in areas which have a history of leaks and breaks to ensure that the network can support more than 4 million people in Sydney, Illawarra and the Blue Mountains.

The area of operations, totalling almost 13,000 square kilometres, extends from the Hawkesbury River in the north to Gerroa in the South, and from the Pacific Ocean westward to Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains.

The program also includes pressure reducing valves to reduce leakage from the system and rehabilitation of reservoirs.

The consortium will be involved in all aspects of design and project management, which will include planning, modelling, investigation, design, environmental impact assessments, communications, construction, contract management and commissioning.

Veolia Water Network Services brings a range of expertise to the alliance including trenchless technologies such as pipe bursting and pipe lining, as well as roles including the Alliance Planning and Design Manager and the Innovations Manager.

The Sydney Water Watermains Works Program Alliance builds upon the A$420 million Networks Alliance program which Veolia Water Network Services has been proudly part of. This program commenced 4 years ago and is currently in its final year.

To date, The Networks Alliance has completed at approx. 2,100 sites in the greater Sydney region, with a focus on safety, innovation, meeting targets and managing both the community and the environment.
